Rhys Millen Attacks Pikes Peak with a Hyundai!

Rhys Millen will attempt to break the 10 minute barrier up Pikes Peak with this Hyundai powered vehicle. The car is placed in the LeMans Class, which has the most open rules.
Looks like a LMP car to me!

BMW to DTM in 2012!

Mario Theissen, Director of BMW Motorsports has confirmed the rumors that BMW will have a DTM car based on the M3 for 2012, with the possibility of a "test" team in 2011.
Great news for the DTM series which has been a 2 car series since Opel bailed out.

VLN Race Red Flagged at Nurburgring

Today's scheduled race at the 'Ring was red flagged and disbanded after Leo Lowensteins's Aston Martin was involved in an accident and caught fire. The fire was quickly extinguished but unfortunately Lowenstein expired from smoke inhalation.
Our condolences go out to his family and the VLN.

VIR GrandAm

The DP race was good up front, but the GT race was exceptional until the very end when the Bimmer spun. It was "just racing contact" IMHO.
GrandAm, despite the Daytona Prototype cookie cutter cars, consistently provides usually close racing. But GT is quickly becoming the interesting class. This seems to be the case with the ALMS, also.
I won't be surprised to see more and more interest in the US by spectators watching GT racing in SCCA WC, ALMS, and the GrandAm series, leading to more manufacturer interest.
Cool, I say.

As We Watch The ALMS from Long Beach.......

A rumor that I heard today, and this is a highly regarded source, is that Ferrari will be in the FIA GT1 World Championship with the new 599 GTO next year. Now that would be fun!!!!

1st Round of the New FIA GT1 World Championship

WOW! Great racing carried live from Abu Dubahi by the GT1World.com. Live streaming was very good with few "stops" and great resolution.
USA! USA! USA!. Corvette earns the most points, and the Matech Ford GT wins easily in the 2d of the 2 one hour races.
Check videos and results at http://gt1world.com. A terrific website on it own.

Formula 1

An exciting Australia an interesting Sepang. The Red Bulls didn't break and finished 1-2.
I think just because of outside circumstances (luck?), not rule changes or Bernie or anyone, we have parity, at least for now.
US F1 closed it's doors for good, finally, and Ken and Peter W, are looking for work, which I'm sure they would find, and work out nicely, on the line at a fast food joint.
At least they would learn how a product is turned out from start to finish.
Lotus is proving to be a nightmare realized rather than a dream, and HRT finished.
F. Massa leads the points but is only 15 ahead of 8th place Webber, who finished 2d to Vettel Sunday.
It could turn out to be almost as interesting as last year.
